When I began writing, I was in grade school and it was simple, rhyming poetry. Over the years the poetry developed into short stories and then potential novels, which my poetry finds its way into. During the years studying for my Bachelors degree, my nose was disciplined between the pages of textbooks and required class reading.  But now, I write and read for myself again.

I enjoy writing in the morning as the sun is coming up

Writing Updates

3.19.2020 - I have been working hard at adding pages to a *hopefully* spooky story that I would like to complete this year in time for Halloween.  It's sitting at 62,000 words and chapters have been farmed out to friends for opinions.  There is still quite a bit to compose but my fingers are crossed for the time frame.

2.1.2020 - Yes, there are several long term projects that I've dedicated hours of adding pages to but I've hesitated from sharing updates due to a constant battle with my confidence.  I am a perfectionist and my own worst critic and not the best at grammatical editing.  Even with as much as I coach myself to "get the story on the page," I find myself obsessing over grammatical corrections instead of story creating.

I feel like protocols have changed since the 80s and I fight against some of the rules - especially when it comes to commas and quotation mark punctuation placement.  And really, I want to understand why society is trying to do away with commas?  I hear it from so many writing pals, to drop the commas.  But commas add timing, commas add pause for thought.  I remember reading Matt Haig's book, The Dead Father's Club, as he does not use any commas in it whatsoever.  I tell you, it was the fastest pace read that I've ever experienced since there were no commas to pause my intake of words.  I felt like I needed to go back and reread it once I was done as I was sure there was information that I glossed over.

We'll see if my projects warrant bragging as the year progresses... and if I don't lose my mind in the editing process ;)

3.10.2018 - Had a wonderful review of "Corruption of a Plaid Skirt" on Snapchat with Amber Camille on her Tea and Tomes show.

3.9.2018 - Attempted to hit my goal of 1200 words today and failed miserably. I added maybe 300 words and then could not help myself from scrutinizing and editing the previous pages. Some days I just have to roll with where my motivation takes me.

11.6.2017 - My progress has been a bit slow this past week - more editing than new writing.  But I've sent chapters out... and now awaiting some creative critiques.  And truthfully, I find it a blessing when people respond with simple grammatical corrections, instead of ideas for major story overhauling.

10.8.2017 - Completed another chapter in one of my current supernatural projects, which introduced two more new characters.  The progress reminds me of what a large cast it will house as well as extending the story that much more.  My goal is to have this project finished and ready for publication by Oct 2018 - just in time for Halloween ;)  Will keep everyone posted
